Prenatal & Perinatal Care

Chiropractic can play an important role before, during and after pregnancy by supporting your body (and your baby’s) as it adapts throughout this period of incredible change.

At ChiroHouse we see expectant moms for the following reasons:

  1. To help with back, neck, and joint discomfort

  2. To foster a healthier pregnancy for both mother and baby through an optimally functioning nervous system

  3. To enhancing the ease of delivery, with fewer interventions

  4. To balancing the pelvis for an optimal position for the baby

Throughout pregnancy, millions of physiological changes unfold naturally to create an optimal environment for both mom and the developing baby, all of which are controlled and coordinated by the nervous system. The changes that mothers experience vary from person to person, but one thing is certain to all expecting moms: With a well-balanced nervous system, your body is best prepared to grow, nourish and birth your baby.

We often say your body is your babies first home. Similarly to when you're getting the baby's room painted and preparing the crib and making sure it’s the best space for your baby, we also need to ensure that its “current home is optimal so that its very first developmental weeks of life are the best they can be. This is why at ChiroHouse, we are VERY passionate about caring for moms.

Even when the baby isn't in a breech position, a misaligned pelvis could impede the natural progression of delivery by restricting the uterus. Gentle, non-invasive chiropractic adjustments promote pelvic relaxation, facilitating a smoother delivery process, reducing the reliance on medical intervention, and minimizing stress for both mother and baby.

Dr. Jack is highly experienced in caring for pregnant women and is certified in the Webster Technique, a specialized method that helps chiropractors restore balance in the body, alleviate stress on the uterus, and support ligaments. Additionally, he holds a post-graduate certificate in Pediatric and Prenatal Care from Life University, further enhancing his expertise in providing comprehensive care for both mothers and their children

FAQ

We get asked some common questions on chiropractic and pregnancy

  • Yes absolutely! All techniques are gentle and designed to support your body as it adapts through this period of change.

Not only is it safe during pregnancy, but chiropractic care is an excellent way to support your body as it adapts through this period of changing requirements.

  • Our practice is well-established to meet the needs of mothers throughout their whole pregnancy and postpartum periods. The specialised use of our tables and pregnancy pillows allows you to be comfortable throughout your visit. We utilise a variety of techniques, including the Webster Technique (all our doctors are Webster Certified), to support your body and baby during your chiropractic visits.

The Webster Technique is a chiropractic adjustment specifically designed to address pelvic misalignment and sacral subluxation in pregnant women. This technique aims to restore balance in the pelvis, which may help reduce tension in the surrounding ligaments and muscles.

  • The benefits of chiropractic care through pregnancy are vast, for both Mother and Baby.

What we tend to see is that a mother under regular chiropractic often experiences a more straightforward pregnancy and birth, with fewer complications.

A recent study undertaken by the Centre for Chiropractic Research in New Zealand showed an improvement in control of pelvic floor muscles in pregnant women under chiropractic care. This is beneficial for the rhythmic coordination of contraction during birth, as well as control and recovery postpartum.

  • Your frequency of care will be determined after your initial visit with us. From here, we can best assess your nervous system function and create a care plan that suits your lifestyle.
